Historical Fiction Giveaway!

I'm excited to spotlight Joanne Bischof's debut novel today - Be Still My Soul - which releases this October. Joanne and I both announced our publishing deals about the same time, and it's been fun to travel this road to publication alongside one another. She's super sweet! And her writing is absolutely lovely. The images she invokes in her novel are beautiful, and the way she captures the setting of the Applaclachian hills makes you feel like you're right there. I'm excited about this series and definitely curious to know what will happen in the next book!

About the Book:
Pretty Lonnie Sawyer is shy and innocent, used to fading into the background within her family, and among the creeks and hollows of the Appalachian hills. Though her family is poor and her father abusive, she clings to a quiet faith. But when handsome ladies’ man and bluegrass musician Gideon O’Riley steals a kiss, that one action seals her fate.

Her father forces her into a hasty marriage with Gideon—a man she barely knows and does not love. Equally frustrated and confused by his new responsibilities, Gideon yearns for a fresh start, forcing Lonnie on an arduous journey away from her home in Rocky Knob.

Her distant groom can’t seem to surrender his rage at the injustice of the forced matrimony or give Lonnie any claim in his life. What will it take for Gideon to give up his past, embrace Lonnie’s God, and discover a hope that can heal their two fractured hearts?

About Joanne:
Married to her first sweetheart, Joanne Bischof lives in the mountains of Southern California where she keeps busy making messes with their home-schooled children. When she’s not weaving Appalachian romance, she’s blogging about faith, writing, and the adventures of country living that bring her stories to life. Be Still My Soul is her first novel.

Ooh, ooh, I just got Joanne's book in the mail...I can't wait to read it!!!

I first moved away from home at 18, going to college about three hours away from home. College graduation felt like much more of a permanent move, though. I've been thankful for family and friends who've been there through each transition. :)

Thanks for the chance to win.

I moved away from home at 18 to go to college. It was a city I'd never been to, and a college I'd never been to. I did all me research on-line and thought it would be a good fit for me. The culture there was different than I had expected (a lot of partying). I was blessed to have a couple of close friends from home going to the same school. One even lived in the same apartment complex. It was amazing how just knowing my friend was one building over and she understood helped me.

Melissa - The junior college I went to was about three hours away too - I liked it because I could come home for holidays but still get the opportunity to be on my own.

Jennie - That's awesome you had a friend so close! My roommates quickly became my close friends when I went away to school.

Loree - I love the cover too and it fits the book so well.

Jessica - I'm curious to know if Lonnie and Gideon's story continues in the next one or if we're introduced to new characters.

It's such a pleasure to get to know Stacy a little more and getting to be on her blog here today is a delight. And a great question, Stacy! I lived in the same house my whole life until I got married :)

Lovely book review! Joanne's book sounds like a good read.

I moved away from home when I was 22 years old. My fiance lived in Ohio at the time, and I accepted a job in Columbus since we were going to live in Ohio following our wedding. I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure, and 23 years later, my husband and I have continued to move south (now in GA) and are still loving our adventure!

My moving away from home wasn't a pleasant experience as I felt I was being pushed away. My Father remarried and his young new wife didn't want children from his first marriage around. I left home at 17 and pretty much fended for myself. It was a hard life but by the Grace of God I am who I am today. We are never alone if we have faith in our Heavenly Father!

Be Still My Soul sounds like a good read. I can't wait to read it. I would be delighted to win a copy of it.

Blessings!

This book sounds great!

I moved away just for college, but my first roommate was like a little mom to me, so it was nice.

Kim - Thanks for stopping by! I'm excited for others to read this great book too.

Jennifer - I still keep in contact with several of my college roommates and it's fun to get together and take those trips down college memory lane. :)

Karen - I live near my home too. I'm grateful for the experience of being away from home, but it is nice to be close to family.

Lady Outlaw

No one would ever imagine a fresh-faced young woman could be robbing stage bandits of their ill-gotten fortunes. But Jennie Jones is desperate to save her family's ranch from foreclosure. And the risks seem worth it, until her upright new ranch hand offers a glimpse of how much is really at stake.

Former bounty hunter Caleb Johnson is ready for a new, clean start. With a woman like Jennie, he could build a future there in Utah territory. But only if his gentle faith can guide her in a choice between the land she's fought so hard to save and a future by his side.
